When it comes to the feelings of Muslims, the protection is out there. When it comes to the feelings of Orthodox believers, here it is. But as soon as you need to protect the feelings (and rights!) of enterprising people who want to compete honestly in an open market for some reason they are accused of speculation, atheism, and so-forth.
No commitment, stupid rituals, and idolatry. Let's call it religion when we need protection from obscurantism.
Any religion is based on faith and effectiveness of its commandments. So, any religion claims that if a person lives by these commandments, everything will be fine. As long as we honor our commandments and respect the free market, we will really be all right; this is our faith.
